Like a marriage, I am a firm believer that what is meant to be with find a way. My mother subliminally bestowed upon me a love for photographs. All she used was a 35mm film camera, as digital wasn’t even on the radar. I personally have over ten photo albums, each meticulously labeled and dated. Often I would pour over them, taking the printed photo out of it’s velum casing to read the back which had who was in the picture along with a short description. As I got older, I began to realize that not everyone had these treasures, much less ready at the helm whenever needed.
Fast-forward to my senior year of high school, I’m a graphic designer and photographer for the school yearbook after having already photographed the three previous years of boy’s soccer and a few weddings. I was blessed with a journalism teacher who had a passion for creativity as well as photography and who took the time to teach me about composition (i.e. “not cutting people’s feet off!”). After high school I attended Lindenwood University where I gained two degrees and a husband! Ironically, my degrees are in Psychology and Criminal Justice; two fairly non-creative fields. But it was what I thought I was interested in, so why not take out a student loan for it right?! Shortly after his college graduation, my husband enlisted in the United State Air Force which kept us moving around and pretty busy for two years. I photographed some friends of ours occasionally, but nothing too serious. I was mainly a stay-at-home puppy-mom which was pretty stinkin’ cool! However, the minute we found out we were pregnant with our daughter in late 2015, we (plus our two pups) moved back to St. Louis to be close to our family. It was then that the pieces began to fit together. Most of my friends were getting married, having kids or knew people who were, which is when my business took off and I hit the ground running; and I haven’t stopped since. My true love (besides s’mores, Tiffany’s, Mexican food and my family) is capturing your most joyous moments so that you as well as your children can have those beautiful albums to cherish for longer than your lifetime. In a world where cell phone photos are almost too convenient, I still revel in quality, tangible memories that portray YOU in that exact, frozen moment in time.
Also like a marriage, I will cry with you during your vows, laugh with you during the toasts and capture the unique love that only the two of you can share. These moments are just as important to me as they are to you, and that’s how together we make your wedding day truly your best day ever.
