We (Joel & Shannon) had the pleasure of spending their wedding day with them, and it was such a great day. Not only did we get to be at one of our favorite wedding ceremony venues, Graham Chapel on the WashU campus, but we also got to be at one of St. Louis’ newest reception venues, the Wild Carrot. And let me tell you…the Wild Carrot is an incredible place! One of our highlights from the day, though, was having a stop at Sasha’s Wine Bar on Shaw…which is where they had their first date and where Preston proposed. Little did we realize, though, that there are actually TWO Sasha’s wine bars. And we definitely went to the wrong one first.

Congrats to Jessica and Preston!!! We had such a wonderful time working with you both!!!

When I first talked with Claire and Mark, I knew they were my kind of couple. Not only did they share a certain level of nerdiness with me (Joel), they sounded like a ton of fun who were funny, corny, and so so much in love. They were a drama kids…like I was. They loved Harry Potter and other geeky things, like me. A perfect match! As much as I enjoy working with all sorts of couples, I especially love it when people can blend the deep and solemnity of the day with the fun, carefree, and slightly off-the-wall side of who they are. It’s so much fun. And, this is exactly how these two were. The ceremony and depth of their commitment to each other, and their connection with their families, were the hallmark of the first part of the day. After the ceremony, they were so jubilant and excited that their joy just exploded out…and we had a blast during the photo time with them and their wedding party at the St. Louis City Garden. After photos, we headed to Orlando’s for a pre-reception dance lesson for anyone who wanted to take their skills up a notch. After speeches and dinner, everyone kicked it up and danced with such passion and gusto. It was a blast!

Here are some of my favorites from the day. Huge congrats to Claire and Mark! SO happy to have been a part of your wedding day!

I probably was the only one, but I (Joel) had Simon and Garfunkle’s “At the Zoo” going through my head ALL day at Blaire and John’s wedding. Partly because, yes, we were at the St Louis Zoo all day, but also partly due to the wild tale of how everything ended up being at the zoo. Blaire and John were originally scheduled to have their wedding at another venue, but due to the venue suddenly closing and declaring bankruptcy (yikes!!!), they had to do some major scrambling, which included changing their wedding date, and get everything moved around so they could now have their wedding here. Even with all of the craziness surrounding everything, the reality is that is undoubtedly worked out for the best. The day was outstanding, and for a couple that is as much fun as they are, they deserved something fun and adventurous. And they got it!

Here are some of our favorites from the day. Huge congrats to John and Blaire, and we are so happy that we were a part of your wedding day!

This past Saturday we had our first REAL Fall wedding of the year! Even though things are still very green all around here, the temperature has finally started dropping…which was very welcome for everyone at Danielle and Joe’s outdoor wedding and reception. The wedding was at the amazing Little Piney Lodge, which is one of our very favorite places, and even though we had few little bits of rain (one for about 90 seconds during the ceremony), it did not stop the day from being amazing.

Here are some of our favorites from the day. Huge congrats to Danielle and Joe!

A little over a week ago we had an amazing wedding with two of the sweetest people you could imagine. When we first met Kayleigh and Tanner, that was what we walked away saying. Just so sweet. Kayleigh is from St. Louis originally and Tanner is from Kentucky…where they both now live. And even though she is not technically from the South, you would hardly know that because she is that sweet (and has some of the accent now as well!). Together, they are something very very special. We had such an incredible time with these two at the amazing Grand Hall in Union Station. It was our first day back at weddings after our August break, so it was great to jump back at it all at our favorite Saint Louis location. Like any wedding day, there were a few small curve balls thrown their way, but they handled everything amazingly, and you would hardly know it. Their family and friends were a pure joy to be with, and it is one of those weddings that we wish we could do again and again.

Here are a few of our favorites from the day. Thank you SO much for letting us be a part of your day! Blessings to you both!

Joel

P.S. Special thanks to the amazing vendors! Katie from Union Station (our venue hero). Tina Barrera the master florist of Special Events Florist (sorry again for breaking your candle glass haha). Chris McMahon from McMusic DJ (very nice to finally meet and work with you).

P.P.S This wedding was a week after having emergency appendix removal. Thanks to my amazing wife for being a rockstar and making sure I took small breaks here and there to sit down so I could make it through the day. Love you, babe. And thank you to my amazing friend (and future-bride-in-front-of-my-camera-to-be) Tara. Thanks for yelling at me to stop carrying heavy things…even if I ignored your commands and glares most of the time.

Any baseball fan that steps into Yankee Stadium does so with a bit of reverence. It is a field where so many of the greats have become legends. You can almost hear the chants for The Babe (not Baby Ruthie for you Sandlot Fans out there). The Babe still may not know the number of lives he made a mark on- how many children picked up a bat in hopes of being like him. All of the rest of us out there? We have the ability to be legends. We may not reach the masses the way The Babe did, but the legacy we leave behind for our loved ones is one heck of a gift- and responsibility.

Tori and Luke may have just said their vows last month, but they just have something between them that feels like it has been there a lifetime. They were, without a doubt, hand crafted for one another. To New York, he may be “Luuuuuuuuuuke” but to her, he is so much more. His worth has nothing to do with his ability to send a ball soaring into the stands. He is her best friend, and she is his. He is her biggest fan, and she is his biggest supporter. He is a loving dad to their pup, and she is the teacher who will teach their future children how to navigate this life. Together, they are a team, and they humble tackle life together every day. It doesn’t matter one bit where life takes them, together is the only place they need to be.

We are so excited for the life set ahead of you both on and off the field. Enjoy every moment and do so together. Life is going to move quickly, be sure to slow down long enough to smell the popcorn. Cheer one another on through successes and cheer louder during the slumps. Laugh, laugh really hard- even when you are upset with one another. When the noise around you gets too loud, silence it in one another’s arms. Luke, never stop lifting your beautiful bride into the air above this world. Spin her around and hold onto her with all your might (I’ve seen your training videos- I know you’re strong). You two have something incredible. Work at it. Nourish it. Fight for it. Make it Legendary.

Love this shot by my friend and teammate, Kurtis.

Another one I love by Kurtis. Aren’t these flower girls the CUTEST!?

So a Cardinal, a Yankee and a Diamond Back walk into a Bar…

I know this is a lot of kissing pictures… but that’s just them. These two kiss a lot! I think love looks pretty good on them!

Without a doubt, Bill and Angela were married on the windiest day of the fall. Granted, it was absolutely gorgeous- but boy did we ever have to work with the wind. I have to say, with a few maneuvers, it worked well in our favor. Angela was just about the most laid back bride ever. She and Bill both trusted us completely and my friend Chris and I had a blast working with them (So much so that before the ceremony even began Chris was asking me how many memory cards I had because he was allowed to be getting suck “Great stuff”).

Bill and Angela chose one of our all time favorite venues for their wedding, The Caramel Room at Bissinger’s. I (Amy) am a bit of a chocolate snob. It’s really the only form of candy I like. If it’s not chocolate, it’s not worth the calories in my opinion so I’m quite the kid in a literal candy store when I work there. Not to mention we have become friends with a lot of the people who work there so its pretty much just the recipe for a fun night.

I’m not usually one for the funny stuff. I’m just not that cool. However, when your friend Amanda Little is the brains behind a lot of the antics that go on at the Caramel Room, you get a little silly. Thanks for being a great sport and taking this picture for Amanda. She loves it!!

The Green Carpet. It’s reserved for the stars, the pros- the masters. This past spring, people watched in awe from afar as the members of the PGA tour walked the Green Carpet at Bellerive Country Club in St Louis, Missouri. I feel like love is a little bit similar. We go to weddings and we look to the couple who has endured the test of time. We go to the pros and ask for help. We all want to be among those who are masters at making marriage work.

Surrounded by family and dear friends, all eyes were on Kelsey and Will as they walked both the red carpet at there ceremony (which was also where Kelsey’s mom and dad got married) and the green carpet at Bellerive Country Club for their Reception. They got just enough of a downpour to ensure lots of good luck (it’s a thing, really) and with the great advice we are sure they will get from their loved ones (to which Kelsey may give an eye roll or two), we (Andrew and Amy) are certain Kelsey and Will have all of the tools needed to be the last couple on the dance floor 60 years from now.

We had so much fun getting to know Kelsey and Will’s families. One day Kelsey, you are going to laugh until you cry about the fish platter your mom put on your registry.  You will picture her smirk you know she had as she devised her plan to add it on there. I know your parents feel like they make you crazy sometimes (they probably do) but the love and support they all give you is a beautiful thing that should be cherished. Congratulations on your marriage, keep walking side by side on whatever carpet you choose, I can’t wait to see where you end up!

In true St Louis form, the weather went from Sunny, to pouring, to sunny again within a matter of 15 minutes so we had quite the dynamic day!

I absolutely loved this moment. Will extended his hand to his grandmother during the mother/son dance. I think his momma was happy to share.

Being in quite the band of his own, Will had to take the stage for just one song!

Ok, here it is…the wedding that I (Joel) had been dreaming of shooting since early in my wedding career. The Fabulous Fox Theater is one of my favorite places in the world, and I knew that one day, I would have the chance to work there.  I had the chance to work there a few times for non-wedding sessions for fun, but I never wanted it to do that. As much as I wanted to shoot there, I wanted the photos to mean something more than just for my own “artistic expression.”  I wanted them to be important…I wanted them to mean something to a couple and for them to be the photos they have with them for their entire lives. When we first met with Andrew and Linnea, I told them this…I wanted them to know that even though we barely knew them at the moment, it meant a lot to me. I had a feeling the whole time that the people we photographed in there were going to two very special people.  After spending a while over coffee with these two, I knew they were even more special than I had hoped.

Linnea is an energetic, ball of fire and Andrew is a calm and collected tower of stability and strength. Between the two of them, they made such a loving and engaging couple. We had so much fun at their engagement session and laughed a ton (including us getting a huge kick out of Andrew’s obsession with interesting footwear).  We had known that Andrew had lost his parents when he was only 19, and it became clear how important family and friends were to both of them…it all came up in conversation time and time again when talking about their big day. When the day came, it was even more clear how much everyone there meant to them. For example, they wanted to be there for all of the cocktail hour so they could spend as much time talking and celebrating one on one with their guests as they could. It meant we were not going to have as much time for photos as we usually recommend (especially in a place as challenging for photography as the Fox), but it was so important to them…so it became important to us.  We were able to pull them out of the reception for a few more bonus photos, so it worked out perfectly.

Here are some of our favorites from that day, and we could have posted hundreds more. Such an incredible day and I feel like we were smiling as much as they were most of the time. My favorite moments of the day were the things that they did to remember Andrew’s parents (like using the cake topper from their wedding with a photo of them on the cake table), seeing how much Linnea’s family has taken in Andrew as their own, and Linnea doing her dance with her father to “The Wizard” by Uriah Heep. I know the word gets throne around a lot in the wedding industry, but the day truly was perfect. I am so glad that we could be there to share it with them and their family and friends. It was an honor.

Huge congrats to you both! Hopefully, these photos do a small part to show how amazing you are.

Joel Conner

P.S. Thanks to Madeline and all the staff at the Fox for making the day turn out like it did!

From Clary: My childhood best friend introduced me to Dustin my freshman year of college. Dustin lived an hour away from where I went college. He came to take me out on a date after we were introduced and ever since that date, we have spent every free weekend driving to see each other. He proposed on December 16th, 2017. We planned a trip to Kansas City for the weekend to see the Christmas lights on the Plaza. Little did I know Dustin had more planned than just a weekend spent Christmas shopping. After taking me out for an amazing dinner and walking around looking at the Christmas lights, Dustin asked me to marry him under the gorgeous lights on the Plaza. Fun Fact: My engagement ring was my Grandmother’s wedding ring. It is over 75 years old. We did not do a thing to it besides get it resized. It was perfect just the way it was.

When we were talking with Clary about her wedding, she talked about how important it was to have photos of her family and friends…this was her biggest priority.  We absolutely loved that, because it showed where her heart was for her wedding. The entire day (even with the little bit of rain in the morning!) went perfectly,  and everyone had such a great time. Our highlight was at the end of the night when Clary and Dustin were surprised with an incredible fireworks display down the hill from their reception.  Here are some of our favorites from the day. Huge congrats to Clary and Dustin, and thank you for letting us be there with you!
