People often say working for friends or family is a nightmare, and in the photography community, most people don’t do it. We have thus far found this to be untrue. We have photographed numerous friends and family member’s weddings, and each time it is super special, and makes us want to work even harder for them! This was definitely the case here. We’ve known the Wagner family for many years now – we BBQ together in the summer and we photographed their eldest daughter Ali’s wedding – we are friends. So when it came time for Cara and Andrew’s wedding day, we were pumped. Now it was our third wedding day in a row (a feat we had not yet done before out of the desire to save our feet from falling off), but we were so happy to be ending the Labor Day weekend wedding-athon with their wedding! Cara has been telling us for years that we were going to photograph her wedding, so when Andrew finally proposed she called straight away to check dates with us, and of course we were thrilled for them! Their wedding and reception were at the Ameristar Casino (with the reception being in the awesome Ryse Nightclub).
The two of them met through mutual friends at an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party (while Cara was wearing a Grinch shirt and Perry the Platypus slippers). Once they started talking they never stopped, and a month later they were officially dating . When he proposed, they were on vacation. The year before we had vacationed in Clearwater Beach, FL and tried to take a sunset catamaran cruise the whole week we were there. bit it never worked out. So this trip they decided to try again. As they were going back in, with the sunset in the background, Andrew got down on one knee, managed not to drop the ring overboard, and said ,”So, I have a question for you… Will you marry me?” The rest is history. Don’t you just love a love story?
Cara and Andrew, we’re so happy for you! Congratulations!!
