Meredith is a Southern Belle. I (Shannon) mean, she doesn’t wear a hoop skirt and carry a parasol, but she is all the sweetness and beauty of the iconic image! We were thrilled when she and Nick got in touch with us and started telling us about their vision for their Southern style wedding up here in the Lou. Meredith’s family is still in Arkansas, so many of them traveled up for the wedding. We got to meet her mom, Kelli, when we did a bridal portrait session before the wedding, and she is just so kind and wonderful! (For those that don’t know, that is a Southern tradition, where the bride gets a portrait made in her dress prior the wedding, and it is displayed at the reception).
We knew we’d enjoy working with Meredith and Nick from the moment we started planning their engagement session. When the wedding day arrived, we knew that we’d have an amazing day. For one, we were working with one of our favorite planners, Jenny Kehm with Before I Do! She is always amazing, and that day was no exception. We arrived at the Ritz Carlton for getting ready photos, then proceeded to portraits – with a bit of rain – then on to the ceremony at Grace United Methodist Church. From there we went to the Art Museum to celebrate and party the night away. The Art Museum has a special place in our hearts, so we always love when we get to shoot there!
One thing that really sticks out to me from the day is how much Nick and Meredith’s families loved each other. There were so many special, beautiful moments with family members! We love that, because more than anything, at the end of the day, that’s what really matters….that love. It doesn’t matter that there was rain that put a kink in our photo plans. It doesn’t matter what the food tasted like (it was superb, by the way!). It doesn’t matter if everything went perfectly or horribly off plan. What matters is love. The love of two people. The love of two families. The love of a multitude of friends.
Meredith and Nick, here’s to you. May you always remember that love!
